At the last meeting of the season for Goodwill Lodge
No 3896 the members and visitors were extremely pleased and honoured to have present Dennis Rudd PSGD on his final visit to
Widnes in his official capacity as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. During the meeting, which was well attended by members of Goodwill Lodge and visitors, Dennis preformed
his last official duty by presenting a Grand Lodge Certificate to Paul Smith. David Redhead, Chairman of Widnes Group, then
gave an explanation of the certificate, at the end of which he was given a hearty round of applause for what was said to be
an excellent explanation. Following the meeting
a superb festive board was laid on by Goodwill Lodge in honour of Dennis to which his wife Doreen attended accompanied by
Linda Redhead, Joyce Browne, wife of Peter, Chairman of Widnes Masonic Hall Limited and Liz Pedder, wife of Neil who is taking
over as secretary of Widnes Group. In his toast
to the continuing good health of our retiring Assistant Provincial Grand Master, David said, “With just over 11 days
to go, there is a little touch of sadness appearing and that is of course understandable after 25 years at the forefront of
what is happening in the province. I would particularly like to thank Dennis for his eight years of care for the Widnes Group
and I have enjoyed his company on numerous, or probably innumerable, occasions. We in the Widnes Group thank you most sincerely
for all you have done for us”. David then had the pleasure of presenting Dennis with a Bents Garden
Centre gift token and a bottle of wine and to Doreen he presented flowers as a token of the Widnes Groups esteem and thanks
for the support given to Dennis over these many years. In an emotional response, Dennis thanked
the Widnes Group for the gift token saying that he intended to use the token for garden furniture and also gave thanks for
all the support received over the many years.
