Chapter
of Equity No 1384 - Installation

Unique Ceremony At the installation meeting of Chapter of Equity No 1384
Ian Lynch was installed as First Principal, Tom Nickson as Second Principal and George Barnes as Third Principal. To mark
this wonderful occasion, the Chapter was very pleased and honoured by the presence of the Third Provincial Grand Principal
Rev Harry Ross accompanied by John Hutton Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals and Provincial Deputy Grand Director
of Ceremonies Kevin Poynton. The group chairman for Widnes, David Redhead, along with other Grand and Provincial Grand
Officers were present to witness the occasion. The outgoing First Principal Mike Burwin along with the other Principals
did a first class job of installing their respective Principals. This was the second time Mike has held the office of First
Principal in this Chapter and he said “it was another very enjoyable year”. Ian takes up the role as First
Principal for the first time and made this comment about the year ahead. “I am really looking forward to my year in
office, it’s going to be busy as our next meeting is an exaltation but I’ll do my best and enjoy it”. Tom has been a member of Chapter of Equity for many years and last year he decided that it was time for him to move up through
the Principal Offices, and so far has enjoyed every minute. Due to the commitments of other members of the Chapter,
George has stepped in to bridge the gap. This is the second time round for George to take the office of Third Principal. At the end of the proceedings Mike had a very pleasant task to perform in presenting cheques to the Chapter’s nominated
charities. A cheque for £150 was presented to Harry for the West Lancashire Freemasons Charities, Alan Pattinson was
presented with a cheque for £100 to go to Halton Haven Hospice and Peter Browne was presented with a cheque for £100
for Widnes Masonic Hall Ltd. At the festive board, Harry remarked how much he had enjoyed the ceremony and that he had
witnessed a unique ceremony for all to be proud of, all who took part in it should be congratulated on their work. Harry then
went on to put some meaning into the letters of Royal Arch. Recruitment; Openness; Yourself; Accountability; Look ahead; Active;
Retention; Charity; Halls. He said that by keeping these concepts in the forefront of our minds and acting on them our Chapters
will grow from strength to strength.
