A surviving founder member and a recently introduced young
mason to Kingsway Lodge both consider it to be most friendly and right at the top of the masonic league.
It was back in 1963 when Norman Milner, who had already enjoyed 10 years
of masonry, joined a group of colleagues to form a new lodge (Kingsway No 7870) and 45 years later when 33 year old Neil Roe
decided to sample masonry in the same lodge.
Both
claim they made the right decision and agree that they share their interest with “ a most companionable group of people.”
It is testimony to the pulling power of Kingsway Lodge that Norman travels
over 20 miles from his home to join his masonic colleagues on lodge nights.
Another glowing testimony is the fact that two of the lodge’s first members, Bill Jackson and
Alan Daniels, are still active in lodge affairs bringing years of experience and enthusiasm to meetings.
Kingsway can boast a good record of masonic promotions and honours and
has a number of high ranking Provincial and Grand Officers.
A
balance of masonic work and social activity helps Kingsway to keep up its success rate and perpetuate its “friendly”
tag,
Members enjoy masonic meetings in the Lodge
on the second Monday of each month with a break in June, July and August. They also meet every Thursday for rehearsal of ceremonies
followed by a relaxing social evening perhaps playing pool or simply chatting over a drink in the comfortable bar room.
The social calendar is well marked with major events like Ladies Night,
Christmas Dinner and themed socials usually featuring good class entertainment, dancing and a buffet.
